Miesha “Cupcake” Tate, 34, of Las Vegas, Nevada, United States recently praised Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga, 23. The former was a women’s bantamweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship before becoming ONE Championship vice president.

Tate has been based in Singapore since 2018. In a recent podcast interview on the South China Morning Post, she said, “Honestly, I think a lot of the women have yet to be discovered.”

“Denice, I know I’ve mentioned her before already but if you haven’t watched her fight,” Tate continued. “I’m a huge fan of her. I love her tenacity.”

Currently, Zamboanga is the number one contender in the women’s atomweight mixed martial arts division of ONE Championship. The reigning champion in the division is “Unstopabble” Angela Lee, 23, of Singapore.

“I feel like I see a little bit of Angela in her when she used to fight, like even myself,” Tate said of Zamboanga. “I see little bits of that in her. She’s her own woman and her own fighter.”

Zamboanga holds a professional MMA record of 8 wins and 0 loss. She has “that something special as well and I really think she’s going to go places,” according to Tate.

“Denice is somebody I think everybody should keep their eyes on,” Tate said. “I think she has a very bright future.”

On August 28, 2020, Zamboanga was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Breed” in Bangkok, Thailand, earning her third victory in ONE Championship. She submitted Watsapinya “Dream Girl” Kaewkhong, 25, of Thailand.

“ONE: A New Breed” marked the third outing of Zamboanga in ONE Championship. The first two opponents she defeated in the promotion were Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan, 21, of Malaysia and Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi, 37, of Japan.

Originally, Zamboanga was training at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand. Before “ONE: A New Breed,” she moved to Bangkok, Thailand to pursue her own ventures.
