Shavkat Rakhmonov (Шавкат Рахмонов) is a professional mixed martial artist from Kazakhstan. Here are 13 more facts about him:

  1. He was born on October 23, 1994 in Sho’rchi Tumani, Uzbekistan.
  2. He is 6’1″.
  3. He worked as a loader in the market before he started a career as an MMA fighter.
  4. He is a Master of Sport in combat sambo and MMA.
  5. As an amateur MMA fighter, he lost twice to Gadzhimurad Khiramagomedov of Russia in the World Mixed Martial Arts Association (WMMAA) Championships.
  6. On October 17, 2014, he made his professional MMA debut at “M-1 Challenge 52: Battle of Narts”
  7. On March 30, 2019, he became the M-1 Global Welterweight Champion. He won the title by knocking out Daniil Prikaza of Russia when they competed for the then vacant title at “M1 Challenge 101” at the Almaty Arena in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
  8. On June 28, 2019, he successfully defended the M-1 Global Welterweight Championship title. He knocked out Tiago “Bahia” Varejão of Brazil at “M-1 Challenge 102” in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan.
  9. On July 31, 2019, he became the first male Kazakh MMA fighter to sign a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. On the same day, Mariya Agapova became the first female Kazakh UFC fighter. Before signing the contract, he had to vacate the M-1 Global Welterweight Championship title. He is managed by Sayat Abdrakhmanov.
  10. He had three cancelled UFC fights during the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. On October 24, 2020, he finally made his UFC debut at “UFC 254” on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where he submitted Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira of Brazil.
