Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat was one of the Vietnamese martial artists featured in the open workout held by ONE Championship as a preliminary activity for “ONE: Immortal Triumph” at the Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on September 3, 2019. He is set to make his debut in the Singapore-based organization’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
“I am so happy and thankful that ONE Championship has finally come to Vietnam, my beloved home country,” Nguyen stated. “For the past few years, it has been my dream to compete in front of my friends and family here in Ho Chi Minh City. Now, to get to do so under the bright lights of ONE Super Series, the greatest platform in the world for striking martial arts, it excites me to no end.”
Featuring kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts only, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” is the first ever ONE Championship event that does not have any mixed martial arts match on the card. In the 12th bout of the evening, Nguyen will face Azwan Che Wil of Malaysia in a Muay Thai bout in the flyweight division.
“I’m laser focused in putting together the best performance of my career this Friday,” Nguyen said. “Hopefully, the fans come out and we can rock the stadium.”
Taking place at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6, 2019, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Vietnam. Aside from Vietnam, 14 other countries will be represented namely Australia, Brazil, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Russia, Slovakia, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
