The Netherlands and Thailand were among the 19 countries represented at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. It was the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in the country.
“ONE: A New Era” featured 11 mixed martial arts bouts and four ONE Super Series matches, which include two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai contests. In the ninth bout of the evening, Andy “Souwer Power” Souwer, 36, of the Netherlands faced “The Hero” Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex, 33, of Thailand.

Fairtex is multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion. Training out of Fairtex Gym, he made his ONE Super Series debut on May 18, 2018 at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore where he defeated Chris “The African Warrior” Ngimbi, 34, of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On December 7, 2018, Yodsanklai defeated Luis “Soot Raeng Geert” Regis, 33, of Australia at “ONE: Destiny of Champions” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. “ONE: A New Era” marked the Thai fighter’s third ONE Super Series bout.
Red Corner
Representing Team Souwer, Souwer made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on October 6, 2019. He lost to Anthony “The Assassin” Njokuani, 38, of Nigeria and the United States via split decision.
Souwer is a former K1 World Max Champion. “ONE: A New Era” marked his second ONE Championship bout.
Fight Result
Souwer and Yodsanklai competed in a kickboxing contest at a catch weight of 72 kg. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.
Onari put a stop to the contest after 51 seconds in the second round. Yodsanklai knocked out Souwer.
Winning at “ONE: A New Era” improved Yodsanklai 201’s professional kickboxing and Muay Thai record to 202 wins, 71 losses and 4 draws. On the other hand, Souwer now has 179 wins, 20 losses and 1 draw.
“ONE: A New Era” Main Event
In the main event, Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan challenged reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, of the Philippines in a rematch.
