[PHOTOS] France vs Italy: Samy Sana, Armen Petrosyan fight at ‘ONE: Conquest of Champions’ in the Philippines

France and Italy were among the 14 countries that will be represented at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018. Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, it is the fourth and last ONE Championship event in the Philippines in 2018.

“ONE: Conquest of Champions” featured eight mixed martial arts matches, two Muay Thai bouts and two kickboxing contests. In the sixth bout of the evening, Samy “AK47” Sana, 29, of Paris, France faced Armen Petrosyan, 32, of Gorizia, Italy.

Petrosyan is of Armenian descent and was born in Yerevan, Armenia on November 6, 1986. He is representing Team Leone Petrosyan.

On July 27, 2017, Petrosyan made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Reign of Kings” where he lost to Chris “The African Warrior” Ngimbi, 34, of the Democratic Republic of Congo via split decision. The Armenian-Italian kickboxer competed for the second time in ONE Championship’s striking-only league at “ONE: Conquest of Champions.”

Sana is of Algerian descent was born in Paris, France on December 10, 1988. He is training out of Phenix Muay Thai Paris and Venum Training Camp Thailand.

When Sana made his ONE Super Series debut, which was at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on June 29, 2018, he lost via majority decision to Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy, 25, of Thailand. “ONE: Conquest of Champions” marked the second outing of the French-Algerian kickboxer in the striking-only league of ONE Championship.

Fight Result

Sana and Petrosyan competed in a kickboxing contest at a catch weight of 73 kg. Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan, 32, of Italy was in the Armenian-Italian kickboxer’s corner while Mehdi “Diamond Heart” Zatout, 35, of France was in the Algerian-French kickboxer’s corner.

After three three-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of Sana, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision, which marked the Algerian-French kickboxer’s first win in ONE Super Series.

The victory at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” improved Sana’s professional kickboxing record to 87 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Petrosyan now has 69 wins, 19 losses and 1 loss.

“ONE: Conquest of Champions” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of Baguio City, Philippines and Amir Khan, 23, of Singapore competed for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship. After five five-minute rounds, the Filipino contender won via unanimous decision.

In the main event, Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli, 35, of Terracina, Latina, Italy challenged reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of Manila, Philippines. The Filipino defending champion knocked out his Italian challenger in the first round.
