Thailand and Japan were represented at the ONE Championship event “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which will take place on November 17, 2018 at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. The fight card featured three ONE Super Series striking contests and 11 mixed martial arts matches.
In the 11th bout of the evening, Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit, 22, of Chiang Mai, Thailand will face Hayato Suzuki, 32, of Ibaraki, Japan. They competed in an MMA match in the strawweight division.
Blue Corner
A veteran MMA fighter, Suzuki spent the majority of his career competing in Japan. He is known as a highly skilled competitor with the ability to finish his foes with heavy knockout power and technical grappling skills.
Suzuki is a former Grachan Flyweight Champion. He is training out of Brave Gym in Misato, Japan.
Red Corner
Hailing from the northeast of Thailand, Mitsatit is a Chiang Mai Muay Thai Champion raised in humble surroundings. After repeated encounters with childhood bullying, he decided to pick up Muay Thai to learn how to protect himself and through hard work and talent, he ran up an impressive 72-17 record winning a Muay Thai championship in the process.
In 2014, Mitsatit made his professional MMA debut. Training at the prestigious Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, he has rapidly emerged as one of Thailand’s most exciting talents having several technical knockout wins in ONE Championship.
Fight Result
Referee Yuji Shimada put a stop to the strawweight bout between Mitsatit and Suzuki at 2:09 of the first round. The Japanese contender submitted his Filipino opponent via rear-naked choke.
Winning at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” improved Suzuki’s professional MMA record to 20 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws. On the other hand, Mitsatit now has 9 wins and 2 losses.
“ONE: Warrior’s Dream” Main Events
In the co-main event of the evening, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, of Helmond, Netherlands and Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 36, of Sao Paulo, Brazil battled it out in a ONE Super Series kickboxing contest. The Dutch kickboxer knocked out his Brazilian opponent in the second round.
In the main event, Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Arsta, Uppsala, Sweden and Tyler McGuire, 32, of Spokane, Washington, United States competed for the vacant ONE Welterweight World Championship. The Swedish contender captured the belt by knocking out his American opponent in the fourth round.
