[PHOTOS] China vs Brazil: Xie Chao, Bruno Pucci fight at ‘ONE: Warrior’s Dream’ in Indonesia

China and Brazil were represented at the ONE Championship event “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which will take place on November 17, 2018 at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. The fight card featured three ONE Super Series striking contests and 11 mixed martial arts matches.

In the second bout of the evening, “White Dragon” Xie Chao, 26, of Qingzhou, Shandong, China faced Bruno “Puccibull” Pucci, 28, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. They competed in the featherweight division.

Pucci is a two-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No Gi World Champion. He was 13 years old when he took his first BJJ lesson, and from then on, he would train every single day.

In 2009, Pucci reached the pinnacle of his grappling career when he won gold at the No Gi Grappling World Championship and defended his crown the very next year. He went on to earn a black belt in BJJ and a professional BJJ record of 170 wins 55 losses, and in 2011, he made his professional MMA debut.

Xie was 20 years old when he started training in Jeet Kune Do, a famed martial arts discipline developed and founded by the legendary Bruce Lee. At the age of 24, the Qingzhou native began preparing to compete in MMA.

Showcasing burgeoning grappling skills, Xie won his very first professional bout via first-round armbar. He made sure to leave a lasting impression in his first ONE Championship appearance, which was at “ONE Championship Shanghai,” by submitting Marc “The Borneon Tiger” Marcellinus, 38, of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia via kimura armlock in just 90 seconds.

Fight Result

Referee Yuji Shimada put a stop to the featherweight bout between Xie and Pucci at 0:56 of the first round. The Brazilian contender submitted his Chinese opponent via guillotine choke.

Winning at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” improved Pucci’s record to 6 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Chao now has 9 wins and 5 losses.

“ONE: Warrior’s Dream” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, of Helmond, Netherlands and Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 36, of Sao Paulo, Brazil battled it out in a ONE Super Series kickboxing contest. The Dutch kickboxer knocked out his Brazilian opponent in the second round.

In the main event, Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Arsta, Uppsala, Sweden and Tyler McGuire, 32, of Spokane, Washington, United States competed for the vacant ONE Welterweight World Championship. The Swedish contender captured the belt by knocking out his American opponent in the fourth round.
