As advertised, reigning World Boxing Council Super Flyweight World Champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai , 31, of Sisaket, Thailand was dominant in his most recent outing. One of the eyewitnesses to the inaugural ONE Championship boxing match was reigning International Boxing Federation Super Flyweight World Champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas, 26, of Panabo, Davao del Norte, Philippines.
After 12 rounds, Srisaket outboxed his challenger Iran “MagnifiKO” Diaz, 28, of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico in the main event of “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” on October 6, 2018 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Having witnessed the action himself, Ancajas has nothing but praises for ONE Championship.
“Seeing boxing on this kind of stage is surreal,” Srisaket stated. “ONE Championship is the biggest martial arts organization in the world, and it’s no surprise that boxing feels right at home there.”
“It was definitely an honor to be able to witness history,” the Filipino boxer added. “ONE Championship provides another avenue for boxers to showcase their skills and their talents on a massive stage. I congratulate ONE Championship on a successful first boxing match and I certainly wish them even more luck in the future.”
Aside from watching history unfold, Ancajas was also in attendance to do some scouting against a possible future opponent. He was impressed by Srisaket’s performance.
“It played out just as I expected,” Ancajas noted. “Don’t get me wrong. Iran Diaz is a great challenger but Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is just on a different level.”
“You could feel that he was feeding off from the excitement of the crowd and you could see that he wanted to put on a show for his home country,” the Panabo native continued. “It was definitely a good match. I had fun watching it.”
