On October 6, 2018, Hayato Suzuki, 32, of Misato, Saitama, Japan competed in ONE Championship for the fourth time. He was one of the three Japanese athletes who competed at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.
“ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” featured eight ONE Super Series contests and six mix martial arts bouts. In the sixth bout of the evening, Ishige competed in an MMA bout in the strawweight division against Robin “The Ilonggo” Catalan, 30, of Iloilo City, Iloilo, Philippines.
Referee Olivier Coste put a stop to the MMA strawweight bout between Suzuki and Catalan at 3:42 in the second round. The Japanese fighter submitted his Filipino opponent via rear-naked choke.
The win at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” improved Suzuki’s professional MMA record to 19 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws. On the other hand, Catalan now has 8 win and 4 losses.
In the co-main event of the evening, Stamp Fairtex, 20, of Pattaya, Thailand became the new ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion by dethroning Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei. The Thai challenger won via unanimous decision.
In the main event, reigning World Boxing Council Super Flyweight World Champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, 31, of Sisaket, Thailand and his challenger Iran “MagnifiKO” Diaz, 28, of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico competed in 12 rounds of boxing. The Thai defending champion retained his title by winning via unanimous decision.
