Fighting out of La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, Jon Chris “Happy Feet” Corton, 26, is the latest mixed martial artist from the topnotch MMA team, Team Lakay, to join Brave Combat Federation. The Filipino fighter will make his debut in the Bahrain-based MMA promotion at “Brave 16.”
Taking place at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on September 21, 2018, “Brave 16” will feature 11 bouts. In the first bout of the evening, Corton will compete in the flyweight division against Hussein “Iron” Ayyad, 24, of Bahrain.
Corton currently holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 3 losses. He is riding a two-bout winning streak.
The last time Corton lost in the cage was on April 8, 2016. He was defeated via unanimous decision at “PXC 53” by Rilley “The Perfect Storm” Dutro, 30, of Wailuku, Hawaii, United States.
After the loss to Dutro, Corton had two consecutive wins in Team Lakay Championship. On October 14, 2017, he knocked out his compatriot Jhunior Dapolit at “Team Lakay Championship 14.”
On April 5, 2018, Corton knocked out Jesstoni Lim at “Team Lakay Championship 15.” It was the most recent bout of the former.
The most recent opponent of Ayyad is Corton’s fellow Team Lakay fighter Jomar Pa-ac, 21. On May 11, 2018, the Bahraini fighter made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy” in Jakarta, Indonesia where he knocked out Pa-ac.
This makes Corton the second Team Lakay fighter to face Ayyad. The Bahraini fighter currently holds a professional MMA record of 1 win and 3 losses.
Headed by Mark Sangiao, Team Lakay is highly regarded in Brave CF. The promotion’s youngest reigning champion is from the team, eigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23.
The other Team Lakay fighters currently signed with Brave CF are Crisanto “Slugger” Pitpitunge, 31, and Jeremy “The Juggernaut” Pacatiw, 22. The former is also scheduled to compete at “Brave 16.”
Pitpitunge will compete against Hamza Kooheji, 25, of Bahrain in the bantamweight division at “Brave 16.” Another Filipino on the fight card is Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre, 38, who will compete in a catchweight bout against Flavio Serafim of Brazil.
