‘Fight of Champions’ results: Carlos Canizales vs Bin Lu

The “Fight of Champions” boxing event of MP Productions took place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 15, 2018. Four title bouts were on the card.


One of the belts at stake was the World Boxing Association (Regular) Junior Flyweight Championship. Bin Lu of Jinan, China challenged the reigning champ Carlos “CCC” Canizales of Caracas, Venezuela.


“Fight of Champions” marked Bin’s second professional boxing bout. On his corner was Buboy Fernandez, best friend and trainer of Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao, 39.


Just one second before the 12th of 12 rounds ended, referee Gustavo Padilla put a stop to the bout between Canizales and Bin. The Venezuelan champ retained his WBA (Regular) Junior Flyweight Championship title by knocking out his Chinese opponent.


Aside from retaining the title, Canizales also maintained his undefeated record. By defeating Bin at “Fight of Champions,” the Venezuelan boxer improved his professional boxing record to 20 wins, 0 loss and 1 draw.


On the other hand, Bin now has 1 win and 1 loss as a professional boxer. He had an impressive career as an amateur boxer and represented China at the 2016 Summer Olympics where he reached the round of 16.


The fourth title bout at “Fight of Champions” was contested in the main event. Fighting out of General Santos, South Cotabato, Philippines, Pacquiao, 39, dethroned reigning World Boxing Association Regular Welterweight Champion Lucas “La Maquina” Matthysse, 35, of Trelew, Chubut, Argentina by knocking him out in the seventh round.
